A Longdog (also spelled long-dog or long dog) designates a dog resulting from a cross between two sighthounds of different breeds where one of them is often a greyhound. This cross does not designate a specific breed. The dogs are of variable size and their type is longilineal, the coat can be long, short or hard. It is distinguished from the lurcher which designates the cross between a sighthound and a working dog, most often a terrier or a herding dog.
