The Tibetan Spaniel or Tibetan dog is a small dog breed originating from the Himalayan mountains. Despite its spaniel name, this breed is not part of the spaniel category because it cannot be used for hunting. It was given this name for its resemblance to the Cavalier King Charles.

A story told
Tibet is the native country of a large number of breeds such as the Tibetan Mastiff, the Lhasa Apso, the Shih Tzu and the Tibetan Terrier. The Tibetan Spaniel has been raised since late antiquity in Tibetan monasteries, it was brought to Great Britain by missionaries in the early 19th century. It is thought to come from crosses between Pekingese, Pug and Japanese Spaniel. It is nicknamed Tibbie by enthusiasts.

The Tibetan Spaniel is a cheerful, playful, loyal and highly intelligent companion dog driven by its insatiable curiosity, it wants to see and know everything. It is nicknamed dog, cat, monkey: dog for its appearance, cat for its agility and monkey for its pranks. It is also a very sensitive dog that feels our emotions.

It is a small, well-proportioned dog with body length slightly more than height at the withers. It has dark brown eyes and a black muzzle. There are all coat colors, the hair is of medium length and has an undercoat. Its tail is well-provided with hair, it is carried over the back in a plume when the animal is in action. This breed has a lifespan of approximately 14 to 15 years.
