The Minskin is one of the rarest cat breeds, resulting from crossing a Munchkin and probably a Donskoy or Sphynx. The result is a cat with the morphology of a Munchkin but without fur. This cat is considered a recent breed, these breeds that are recognized by few major feline associations, because it is one of the dwarf cats and its development can therefore pose ethical problems.

For now, only the TICA association (The International Cat Association) has granted it the provisional title of "new breed." For its name, "min" is an abbreviation of "miniature" and "skin" refers to its skin.

Getting to know the Minskin
Origins & history
A story told
Paul McSorley, an American Munchkin breeder based in Boston (Massachusetts), decided one day to create a breed of cats with the appearance of a Siamese, with short legs. He first crossed a Munchkin with a Sphynx, then probably added Devon Rex, Sacred of Burma, and Burmese cats to the breeding program. In 2005, TICA recognized the Minskin as an experimental breed, then in 2008 as a preliminary breed. Today, most major feline associations do not recognize the Minskin as a full breed.
