Breed standard
With a maximum length of 15 cm (but sexually mature at half this size), the Blue Acara has a stocky body with a fairly marked narrowing at the caudal peduncle. Like many other cichlids, the male has a dorsal fin ending in a point while it is rounded in the female. The body is silvery with blue reflections and displays a distinct black spot in the middle of the body. The crests of the fins have a fine orange border.
