Amphiprion frenatus, in French clownfish red, is a species of marine fish from the Pomacentridae family that frequents the coral reef bottoms of tropical waters in the western zone of the Pacific Ocean between 3 and 15 m deep. The specific epithet frenatus means "provided with a bridle", alluding to the unique white band characteristic that crosses their cheek vertically, present behind the eye of this fish.

Chapter 1

Getting to know the Amphiprion frenatus

Character

Daily temperament

This species lives in pairs with a sea anemone Entacmaea quadricolor as habitat. The clownfish is immune to the stinging cells of the sea anemone (the stinging filaments of the anemone, called acontia, have effects similar to those of jellyfish for humans and for small fish it is death or paralysis). They often live with several other males younger, smaller and immature called "satellite males".
