Macaw is a vernacular name given to birds among the largest of the subfamily Psittacinae. These parrots have brightly colored plumage, generally with a predominance of red or green, a long tail, and a powerful beak. They live in tropical America. Sought after for their resplendent colors and their ability to 'talk' like many other Psittacinae, macaws are threatened with extinction in the wild.
