Origins & history
A story told
In the 2nd millennium BC, this sighthound was used for hunting in open terrain. In the year 139, Flavius Arrian, known as Xenophon the Young, wrote a treatise on hunting describing the selection, breeding and training techniques for sight hunting with Vertragi. This dog is at the origin of certain sighthounds of Group 10, namely Galgos (very close physically), Greyhounds and perhaps Magyar Agars.
