Origins & history
A story told
Tibetan dogs are divided into 5 breeds. The Lhassa Apso, the Tibetan Terrier, the Tibetan Spaniel and the Shih Tzu are part of companion dogs classified in the ninth group. The Tibetan Mastiff is classified in the second group, the group of Molossoids.
Character
Daily temperament
It is a dog that can be distant with strangers without showing aggression. It has full awareness of its "little person" (as Tibetans call it) and demands firm but subtle education! It nevertheless educates easily, as evidenced by its increasing use in agility (obstacle course to be performed in a minimum of time). The maintenance of its double coat should not be neglected: it requires thorough brushing every week which can last up to an hour. it is not recommended to cut it, which has the effect of damaging the hair structure which then felts more and more. The Tibetan Terrier does not tolerate loneliness; it is very attached to its family without being exclusive. It shows no particular aggression when meeting its peers. As with any dog breed, it is useful to bring any puppy to classes specially adapted proposed by kennel clubs. It measures about 40 cm at the withers and weighs 10 to 12 kg for males, and a little less for females. In order to establish maximum complicity with him, it is absolutely necessary to consider him as a full member of the family. The Tibetan Terrier ages very well and it is not uncommon to see him reach, or even exceed, 15 or 16 years. It is a very dynamic and sociable dog.
