Chapter 1

Getting to know the Pinscher autrichien

Origins & history

A story told

The Austrian Pinscher originates from Austria and was an indispensable dog in Austrian farm industries. They were used as guard and companion dogs, mainly. The breeding of this breed began in 1921 and has never stopped. The breed was recognized in October 1928 under the name Österreichischer Kurzhaariger Pinscher and in 2000 under the name Austrian Pinscher.

Character

Daily temperament

Very affectionate, playful, and energetic, it does not tolerate the presence of other animals and may have a tendency to want to escape if its needs are not met. Despite this, it requires little maintenance, is clean, is gentle with children, can live in an apartment, and can remain alone for quite a long time (with water and food).
