Origins & history
A story told
The Small Münsterland Pointer is a versatile dog traditionally used in Westphalia from the eighteenth century. This spaniel was used for hunting, livestock herding, and as a guard dog. In the nineteenth century, crossbreeds with Langhaar were carried out in the city of Münster. The selection of the Small Münsterland Pointer has been distinct from that of the Large Münsterland Pointer, although they share the same geographical origin and the use of Langhaar as a cross.

They end in a point and do not exceed the commissure of the lips. The coat is shiny, smooth to slightly wavy and medium in length. The coat is brown and white, brown roan with large brown patches, a mantle, speckles. A white blaze is admitted. Fire marks often appear on the muzzle and eye.
