This word, which comes from the contraction between the words "maltese" (designates the Maltese Bichon in English) and "shih tzu", was invented by lovers of this type of dog. Indeed, it is not an "official" breed, that is to say it is not yet recognized by associations and dog clubs such as the French Kennel Club.

Its coat is naturally dense, silky and long; these dogs must therefore be brushed regularly, but they can also be groomed in a short cut or puppy cut for easier maintenance.
As for its coat, it can be solid or multicolored, and consists of the same color palette as the Shih Tzu: white, black, beige, gray...
The Maltzu's tail is long and full, it naturally curves over its back, but can also be hanging depending on the dog's mood.
