The adjective lupoid describes dogs and, more generally, canids whose anatomical characteristics evoke those of the wolf, characterized by a head in the shape of a horizontal pyramid with an elongated and narrow muzzle, thin and well-closed lips, a light stop, a well-proportioned and athletic body. The general proportions of lupoid dogs have differentiated less from the wolf than those of greyhounds, mastiffs and pointers.
