Chapter 1

Getting to know the Silken Windhound

Origins & history

A story told

This is a recent breed since it was created in the early 1980s. It is the result of crossing Borzois and Whippets.

Character

Daily temperament

Of an affectionate nature, it alternates between calm indoors and is playful in nature outdoors. The Silken Windhound tolerates children well, making it an ideal family companion. Unlike many Sighthounds, it is not suspicious of strangers and therefore does not guard. Its training must be done gently, without harshness.

Physical

Breed standard

Breeders sought to obtain a small sighthound, with moderately long and silky hair.
