The English Coonhound, also called the American English Coonhound or the Redtick Coonhound is a dog breed. In the 17th century, colonists settled in Virginia brought Saint Hubert hounds to guard the villages. In the middle of the 18th century, they crossed them with other dogs to create dogs capable of hunting opossum and raccoon at night.
