Origins & history
A story told
The black and tan hound for raccoon hunting is an ancient breed that is said to descend from the talbot, an English scent hound descended from scent hounds imported to England by William the Conqueror. Crosses between the talbot, the Saint Hubert Hound and American foxhound of Virginia gave rise to the breed. The breed club is created in 1945.

Hazel to dark brown in color, the almost round eyes are not deeply set in the orbits. The coat is short and tight. The coat is charcoal black with intense tan markings above the eyes, on the lateral faces of the muzzle, on the chest and limbs.
