A story told
The Serbian Tricolour Hound shares the same origin as the other Balkan hunting hounds. In 1946, a debate allowed the breed to be considered distinct from the Serbian Hound. The breed was presented at the Belgrade International Dog Show on June 7-8, 1950. The Fédération Cynologique Internationale recognized the breed and published its standard on July 25, 1961. The breed is extremely rare, even in its country of origin.

The Serbian Tricolour Hound is described in the FCI standard as a devoted and amiable breed. The temperament is lively and energetic, it is self-assured and tenacious.

The Serbian Tricolour Hound is a medium-sized dog with sturdy constitution. The tail is strong at its base and gradually tapers toward its tip. It reaches the level of the hock. The dolichocephalic head has divergent upper lines of skull and muzzle. Almond-shaped, its medium-sized eyes are slightly obliquely placed. The iris color is as dark as possible. The ears of medium length and width are set high, pendant and close to the cheeks. The coat is short, abundant, glossy, somewhat thick, well-fitting to the body, with a fairly well-developed undercoat. The coat is slightly longer on the rear edge of the thighs and on the underside of the tail. The coat is tricolored. The red is intense red or fox red. The black forms a mantle or saddle and may extend to the head where it forms black markings on the temples. The white must not exceed one-third of the total body surface.
