A story told
The origin of this primitive American dog is very ancient. Genetic proximity has been demonstrated between the Carolina Dog and the Asian pariah dog. The Carolina Dog still lived in packs and in an almost wild state in the 1980s in the United States, in the swamps of South Carolina or Georgia.

Breed standard
The animal was rediscovered by Dr. I. Lehr Brisbin. A standard for this breed was developed by the United Kennel Club, which has specified the appearance of this dog since 1995. These dogs resemble Asian pariah dogs and even dingoes, with their rather pointed ears and their often ochre-colored coat.
