The Croatian Sheepdog, or Shepherd of Croatia, is a dog originating from Croatia, with its original name Hrvatski ovčar. It is a Group 1 dog, classified among herding and cattle dogs (except mountain dogs and Swiss cattle dogs). It is a lively, intelligent dog, always ready to work with pleasure and smaller than the typical size of herding dogs. Due to its modesty, it is easy to train. Jet black in color, its coat is short on the head and limbs.

The latter are slightly wavy. Rather rectangular in overall shape and well-proportioned. Height varies from 40 to 50 cm depending on the individual and sex, with females being slightly smaller than males. With a highly developed flock-guarding instinct and love of work, it can be useful. It can serve as a guard dog and has qualities quite similar to the Pyrenean Shepherd.
