The Laekenois is a variety of the Belgian Shepherd breed recognized in Belgium in 1897. This dog is considered the rarest of the Belgian Shepherds. The birthplace of the breed is located in Boom, near Antwerp. The other representatives of the Belgian Shepherd are: the Groenendael, the Malinois and the Tervuren.

It has erect, triangular ears, long and well-muscled front legs.
