Getting to know the Belgian Shepherd Laekenois

Character

Daily temperament

Lively, alert, obedient and very loyal. He is courageous, docile and intelligent. He bears little resemblance to the other Belgian Shepherds (the Tervueren, the Malinois and the Groenendael).

Physical

Breed standard

The male can measure up to 66 cm at the withers and the female about 58 cm at the withers. It weighs approximately 30 kg. Its coat allows it to be recognized without hesitation. Its coat is rough and hard, neither stiff nor curly. The colour is uniquely fawn with charcoal traces around the muzzle and at the end of the tail. It has erect, triangular ears, long and well-muscled front legs.
