The result is an energetic apartment dog, intelligent and whose morphology recalls its Nordic origins. It is very underrepresented in Europe. In France, only two breeders produce this breed: the Kingdom of minis wolfs breeding located near Lyon and the Kingdom of unicorns breeding located in Tarn and Garonne. These two sole representatives of the breed holding breeding authorization by mentor and having all dogs registered with the UKC registry (United Kennel Club)

Origins & history
A story told
This dog breed was obtained in Wasilla (Alaska) in the mid-1970s by Linda S. Spurlin following an accidental cross between an Alaskan Husky and a small dog. The breed is the result of crosses including Siberians, Alaskan Huskies, Schipperkels and American Eskimo dogs in order to obtain a size reduction without dwarfism. She developed her dogs privately and it was not until 1988 that she made this new breed public. Originally named 'Klee Kai', the breed was separated into 'Alaskan Klee Kai' and 'Klee Kai' for political reasons in 1995. In 2002, the name of this breed definitively shifted to the new designation. The Alaskan Klee Kai was recognized by the American Rare Breed Association (ARBA) in 1995 and by the United Kennel Club (UKC) on January 1, 1997.
Character
Daily temperament
The Alaskan Klee Kai is a very intelligent, very curious, active, quick and agile dog that quickly becomes an integral part of any family wishing to adopt one. Resembling a Siberian Husky, the AKK is distant and suspicious towards strangers. Because of this, they make very good guard dogs. To help them integrate into a society where they must accept and tolerate strangers, they must be socialized very early and continuously throughout their lives. They are moderately active but have a predatory instinct for prey such as rabbits, hamsters, birds, cats, etc. which they will hunt and kill if not properly socialized. The Alaskan Klee Kai does not tolerate being mistreated (pinched, etc.). Due to its intelligence, the Alaskan Klee Kai needs good training and can excel in many activities. Agility is an activity in which it seems to be rather good. If your Klee Kai is very active, agility is a good way for it to let off steam.
Physical
Breed standard
The Alaskan Klee Kai resembles a miniature husky. It comes in three sizes: standard, miniature and toy. The colors are as follows: black and white, gray and white (all varieties), red and white (rare) and pure white (not recognized).
